I am Jacqui Buthelezi, a Facilities & Real Estate Analyst at DDP Specialty Products where my job is to manage the office, Health & Safety and Site Security Lead. All of this can become stressful and overwhelming, often leading to one not taking good care of themselves even not being aware. Going through this programme made me realize so many things I was or was not doing. More importantly encouraged me to make SMARTER choices. When he asked me to be part of the case studies, I immediately agreed because I had known him as an intelligent person and that this would be beneficial to me. During the six weeks period I spend with him on the programme, he portrayed professionalism and knowledge of the proramme, guiding me through every step while at the same time showing compassion. Wow! Going on this plan was very beneficial for me. It helped me, not only with my health but also with other aspects of my life where I actually feel like I am now living. I am doing a minimum of 20kms a week of exercise that I was not doing before. In the last month, I did more exercise than in the last 10 years. My weight is currently maintained but I believe that will change over time. I loved that this program did not limit or restrict me in what I ate like other diets but rather it allowed me the flexibility to choose what I like to eat and control my own eating plan. I have cut down my daily sugar intake. From three spoons of sugar in my coffee to 2 to 1 and now to using a cinnamon stick only. I also don’t eat as much junk food as I used to eat. I have a lot more energy than before and my mood is now stable. I am a lot more active overall than I have been recently. I have also cut my vaping down which has also saved me money. Instead of spending R800 a month on vape products, I only spend R200 a month and my vaping is now more of a social activity than a dependency. I want to take this time to thank you for allowing me to partake in this program and for the very insightful coaching sessions provided. I will continue to use the tools provided and stick to the 80/20 principle in order to reach my goal for weight at the end of the year.

My name is Charl Matthee and have always been concerned about health symptoms of Diabetes, Blood pressure, heart disease, and conditions like Stress, Low energy and fatigue. I was about 119Kg (overweight) when I was introduced to Turning Point Health Nutrition & Wellness Coaching by Dexter Jumo. At first, I was sceptical of the programme when he told me that there were no products to be used but only changing the way I eat my food while concentrated on the foods I like more! I signed up for a 12-week programme to get the maximum benefit and what do you know? I could not believe how my weight started dropping week after week by small margins while increasing my energy levels. I started including all the health recommendations like reducing carbohydrates while increasing fruits and vegetable, drinking enough water, sleeping well, and physical movements, all thinks I liked doing. At first it was a bit hard to wake up and walk in the morning but told myself that if I do not do this, no one is going to do it for me. I started waking up at 05:20 and waking around the block until 06:00, then prepare to go to wake. I also walk my dog from 18:00 to 18:30 or more on weekends besides mornings as the form of my daily exercises. I set my target to walk at least 5000 steps per day. First day I only waked about 1200 Steps. Then on second day 3000 steps. By the end of the first week, I was over 5000 steps with the highest on Saturdays at 11000 steps. I was losing 0.5Kg to 1Kg in a week. Within a few weeks, I saw this is working good for me and My wife was impressed. After seeing my energy levels improving, she replaced most of processed foods with vegies and whole grains, and nuts form my snacks and meals. I have now achieved my weight target of below 100Kg and will continue with my new lifestyle until I reach my desired health goals. Basic thing I did was to change my lifestyle!

M Being a full time stay home mom, I was so sure my busy schedule counted for exercises, little did I link my exhaustion to poor my food choices. I was not eating much junk food and so I was so sure I was eating the right foods, but wrong portion sizes and unbalanced food groups. I only came to realize the importance of a balanced diet (blood sugar balance), exercise and good sleep when my blood pressure was declared chronic and muscle cramps verge of paralysis. I joined the program to learn more about balancing the three aspects of my like, i.e., food, exercises and sleep. With the guidance of my coach, I came to realize that there was more to a healthy lifestyle than just general eating, light exercise and good sleep. I needed a proper sleeping schedule rather than dozing off from fatigue. I needed to balance my wheel of life. Since joining the program, I am now enjoying purposeful sleep, intentional exercise, stress-less life, balanced meal and stable moods. I have since lost weight from 96kg to my desired target of 76kg over 18 months and have maintained my weight at 76kg since then. I have consistent energy levels and moods. My Blood pressure has stabilized at 118/76 mostly. My Muscle cramps have improved. Loving the new me and looking forward to living life without aches.

My Name is Tendai Mwene, a Teacher by profession from Zambia. My life was revolving around in and out of doctors’ rooms and hospitals. I was leaving miserable life and spend most the time seating or sleeping or admitted in hospital. At first, when my brother told me about this Health Coaching programme, I was skeptical but decided to try it as I had nothing to lose. He said the program could be done virtually online as long as I had a smart phone of computer with WIFI, but I decided I needed to do it in person hoping to see how he leaved his lifestyle that kept him healthy. I travelled to South Africa to go and start the Health Coaching programme. My weight was 110Kg (overweight for my height). I started the program on 1 March 2023 and the first thing I was asked to do was to cut down on high carbohydrate foods like pap (Nshima), processed foods, rice, pasta, processed red meat (sausages, veenas, polonies) and sugar. This was hard for me as I grew on these foods. All we eat at my brother’s house were a mix of various whole foods such as vegies, fruits, beans, butternut, pumpkin, oats, nuts, dairy products, and many other that are non-starch based. Within 4 weeks, I had lost over 5Kg and started feeling lighter and the new me. I was not taken to any medical doctor but only eating proper foods with routine physical movements and sleeping programme. I could feel my energy coming back and not getting tired frequently, as well as less stress as days went by. Today, I am just under 96Kg and continue to drop in weight while increasing my energy levels. I am now back in Zambia and have started going to work again and doing some sports with school children. I have not fallen ill since I start the program and have not visited my doctor or been admitted in hospital. I cannot not still believe that this was possible considering the amount of money I used to spend on medication and doctor’s visits. All I needed was to review my lifestyle and enjoy my life like I am now. I will continue with the “new me” until I get to my health goals.

8 Weeks of coaching with Dexter turned my body and mind around. I am losing weight, focusing on my lifestyle and emotions. The coaching has enabled me to now understand that I owe my health and happiness to me and my children. Since starting the program 9 weeks ago, I am 9Kg down and loving the journey and the new me.
